New leaks and rumors are emerging from the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 update, hinting at major changes coming to the map. Fortnite regularly makes changes to the battle royale island, facilitating new events and crossovers that change familiar terrain to keep players on their toes.

One of the reasons Fortnite has maintained its standing among the top live service games is that developer Epic Games is constantly working on updates and additions to the game. Even within a given Fortnite season, multiple limited-time events and changes can debut, keeping things fresh for players and encouraging them to come back regularly to see what's new. The constant rhythm of changes and updates also keeps boredom from settling in while still emphasizing the familiar environs of the now-iconic battle royale island on which Fortnite takes place.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Leaks Hint At Two New Locations
If new leaks from Fortnite news account HYPEX posted on Twitter are accurate, potentially significant changes are coming alongside the debut of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4. HYPEX posted what look to be photos taken from a playtest or in-development build of Season 4, showing off hints at potential locations to be added to the map (or planned to replace current map destinations). One screenshot shows what looks to be a swampy area dominated by an otherworldly rock formation leaking glowing purple energy. The second screenshot shows a distant view of a large fortress-like complex featuring walls and towers, as well as a pickup for the recently confirmed new Fortnite Swarmstrike weapon. Few hints are given as to the actual location of the structures on the existing Fortnite map.
The leaks immediately ignited speculation among Fortnite fans, who took to guessing at the potential nature of the photographed sites. Some suggested that the complex in the distance was a castle or military base of some kind, perhaps even throwing back to the Invasion theme of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7. Such a motif could line up with earlier comments suggesting a "bug invasion" theme for Chapter 6, Season 4.

Other players noted that the rock formation in the swampy section bears a superficial similarity to the "sample rock" often seen by Helldivers 2 sample farmers as a telltale marker for the location of desirable Super Samples. They suggested that the "alien nest" might be a hint about a potential (if unannounced) Helldivers 2 crossover. Though many admitted the crossover would be unexpected, the potential for a collaboration between Helldivers 2 and Fortnite excited many commenters, who joked about bringing the Helldivers 2 ideology of "Managed Democracy" to the Fortnite Island.
