Jimmy Kimmel campaigns for Stephen Colbert via Emmys billboard: “I’m voting for Stephen”

If you needed any more proof that the Late Night Wars are long over, Jimmy Kimmel is using an FYC ad to lobby not for himself, but for his Emmy category competition: Stephen Colbert and The Late Show.
The billboard features a photo of Kimmel next to the message "I'm voting for Stephen."

The move, which parent company Paramount called "a purely financial decision," was widely criticized as soon as the news broke, including by Kimmel, who wrote in his Instagram story, "Love you Stephen. F--k you and all your Sheldons CBS."
Both Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show are nominated in Best Talk Series along with The Daily Show.
The Late Show has been nominated in the series category nine times without ever winning. In fact, the show has never won an Emmy, despite 33 nominations across its run. That's the second most Primetime nominations without a win for a series after Better Call Saul, which was famously shut out after 53 nods.
Since the cancellation news, The Late Show's odds of winning in Best Talk Series have increased considerably, though it's still lagging behind category champ The Daily Show. Colbert's show recently jumped 19 points to a 26 percent chance, behind The Daily Show's 70 percent. The show has also surged in the ratings, climbing to record highs in both total viewers and the 18-49 demo.
