Persona 4 Revival Steam Page Confirms an Unfortunate Addition

WinterGames2025-07-191510

Atlus has recently revealed that Persona 4 Revival will use the controversial Denuvo digital rights management (DRM). This is unfortunate news for gamers expecting to play Persona 4 Revival on PC, as the Denuvo DRM is generally criticized by gamers due to being invasive and is often accused of causing performance issues.

Originally released in 2008, Persona 4 was a highly successful title for Atlus. The title was followed by the launch of Persona 4 Golden, an enhanced version originally available for the PS Vita in 2012. After that, the game even had a few spin-offs, such as Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4: Dancing All Night. Earlier this year, Persona 4 Revival was officially announced during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025.

Now, Atlus has officially opened the pre-orders for Persona 4 Revival for PS5 and PC, and the game’s Steam page confirmed that the RPG will use Denuvo. While not completely unexpected, as games published by Sega, including Persona 3 Reload, have already used the DRM before, this is still bad news for gamers. Denuvo is very unpopular with gamers, as many accuse the DRM of affecting the performance of the games that use it. Persona 4 Revival’s Steam page also revealed that the game will have 15 supported languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Thai, and Turkish.

Persona 4 Revival will follow the story of the original game, which saw the protagonist investigating murders in the rural Japanese town of Inaba. Together with his friends, the protagonist discovers a mysterious world inside the television, which can reveal secrets about a person’s soul. Persona 4 Golden is often considered among the best games published by Sega, and it currently holds an average critic score of 88 on OpenCritic.

At the moment, Persona 4 Revival still does not have an official release date. However, Sega has recently indicated in financial documents that Persona 4 Revival will not be out before April 2026. The game is expected to be out during the fiscal year that comprises April 2026 to March 2027.

Considering how massively popular Persona 3 Reload was, it’s likely that Persona 4 Revival will follow a similar level of success. Persona 3 Reload became Atlus’ fastest-selling game after selling over a million units within the first week of its release, and was considered a major hit for the studio.
