Tennessee Troopers Are Taking On Road RageJust like in other areas, Tennessee has been plagued with violent road rage, but state troopers have a plan to curb the trend. That means drivers in the Volunteer State who can’t keep their actions in check could find out they’re busted, even if it doesn’t look like a cop is nearby.

Tennessee Highway Patrol is sending out unmarked units to looks for not only road rage but also distracted driving, impairment, and yes, speeders. It’s a plan other states have put into place to keep aggressive drivers in check since they often are on their best behavior when an officer of the law is visible.
Other states have used this method for catching road rage or aggressive drivers. Sometimes the suspects tailgate, cut off, or otherwise target the unmarked cruisers, they blend in that well with regular traffic.
According to local station WLTV, THP is counseling the public to not confront or get aggressive if they witness a road rager. Instead, the agency says bystanders should give the road ragers a wide berth and call law enforcement right away.
And that’s it.
Not only can you get it wrong about who’s the true aggressor in a road rage exchange, you might become the target for extreme violence. It’s best to let trained police handle the situation.
In addition, THP says there are about 300 additional troopers patrolling across the state. They’ve been added as the population of Tennessee has grow recently, ensuring the law enforcement agency can address the public’s needs.
With road rage being a serious problem across the country, we’ve seen states deploy a variety of methods, from new laws to unmarked police cars, to try reversing the trend. We hope THP finds success with its new initiative.
