80s hair metal icon and reality star Bret Michaels suffered a major health scare on stage during his current solo tour — which led him to announce that he is revamping his “insane” solo tour schedule to accommodate his struggle with diabetes.

"To all my friends in Pittsburgh and Washington, Pennsylvania area — simply put, thank you ... you rule," the Poison frontman, 62, wrote to fans via Instagram over the weekend. "Last night, there was a packed pre-show Meet & Greet and, although I knew my blood sugar was low, I was excited to meet everyone and not let anyone down.”

"Unfortunately, the highs and lows of living with diabetes since I've been six years old occasionally just kick my butt,” Michaels continued in his caption. “Last night, I went on stage and even added a song or two to the set to prove to myself & the fans that I could do it. At the end, my blood sugar walking off the stage was a real-life 39."

The Rock of Love star has been open about his diabetes diagnosis and the difficulties of living with the illness, which has been the cause of on-stage health scares in the past and even forced him to cancel performances. In May 2014, the singer was rushed offstage due to low blood sugar while performing in New Hampshire with Poison, and the show was subsequently cancelled as a result.

"I vow in the near future, I'm going to take that time needed, and please forgive me if I have to move some of the shows around until I get this under control," he added about having to reconfigure his tour in the future. "The schedule this summer is completely insane — all over the place and some of these will have to be rearranged, as one time I'm in Pennsylvania, the next night Montana, one night Pittsburgh, the next night Oklahoma, and so on."

That said, Michaels made sure to let fans know how touched he is that fans are bearing with him through a difficult time. "I am forever grateful, but just have to rearrange some of this schedule as everyone knows,” he concluded on Instagram. “Again, my apologies. I love the shows, the fans and the music!"

Michaels’ solo tour is booked up through September, so it remains to be seen how he’ll rearrange dates to make it easier for him to both navigate his chronic illness and still give fans the experience he wants them to have. The singer has also expressed a desire to do a 2026 tour with Poison, so hopefully he can zero in on a pace that works with his limitations and apply that to getting back on the road with his iconic band.

Poison was formed in Pennsylvania in 1983 and played their most recent tour in 2022, but have expressed doubts that they would release another full album as a band.
