Adam Sandler Addresses Sydney Sweeney ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Casting Rumors

When the news initially broke that Adam Sandler and company were rolling out the highly anticipated sequel Happy Gilmore 2, speculation began running rampant.
While the movie features cameos from several high-profile athletes and other non-actors, fan theories surrounding Sydney Sweeney's potential role were also swirling. Even original Happy Gilmore star Julie Bowen, who played Virginia Venit, admitted her kids nearly convinced her Sweeney would replace her in the sequel.
However, ahead of the July 25 release of Happy Gilmore 2, Sandler and Bowen spoke to Access Hollywood about that rumor, and both addressed the topic.

Sandler addressed those rumors, while also offering praise to Sweeney, whom he called "very nice."
"Sweeney, by the way, met Sweeney at an award show. I was with my wife, and she was very cool, very nice and a nice person," Sandler said.
Bowen agreed and joked, "I was rooting for her," to which Sandler sarcastically replied, "we were all rooting for her."
"No, of course it was going to be a happy ending," Sandler said while agreeing that it wouldn't be the same.
