Arkansas Trooper PITs Out Stolen C5 Corvette

In perhaps one of the most Arkansas cases ever, a woman allegedly stole a C5 Corvette from a Walmart parking lot. Local police called Arkansas State Police for help and a pursuit ensued, during which the woman did something very dumb, testing the skills of a trooper.

Motorcyclist takes a selfie with a bear, is mauled to death.

If you know anything about Arkansas troopers, you know how dumb it is to do that. She started off with the dumb trick of pulling over and pretending to comply. But as you can see in the included dashcam footage, once the trooper got out of his cruiser, she punched it and took off.

The thing is while a C5 Corvette is a fun classic sports car, it’s not fast by today’s standards. We’re sorry if that rumples some feathers, but you can see the trooper has no problem catching back up to the suspect and staying right on the Chevy.

Someone who was smart would’ve pulled over for real and just surrendered. Instead, the suspect keeps going. She was allegedly intoxicated at the time, but we’ve seen people who at least seem sober do the same dumb thing.

The trooper was extra nice, pulling parallel with the Corvette and calling the suspect by name, pleading with her to pull over so she wouldn’t get hurt. She of course didn’t and he immediately executed a textbook perfect PIT maneuver.

That spins the C5 Corvette out onto the shoulder. While it might have been leaking some coolant right after, pictures taken when the sports car was returned to its owner show it didn’t take much obvious damage. That’s a job well done by ASP, something we hope was appreciated.

As a side note, two crimes were documented in this dashcam footage. There is of course the suspect driving a stolen car and running from police in it. But the other one involves the owner of the C5 Corvette putting too wide of rear tires on it without adding fender flares. It looks hideous and there should be a legal punishment for that.

Maybe there are wheel spacers on the ‘Vette, but it still looks hideous.
