Backyard Go-Kart Track Case Lands In Court

A case we covered before of a father building a backyard racetrack for his son has now landed in court. The man, who lives in Howard County, Maryland, spent over $100,000 to build the track for his 10-year-old son so he could practice more often. But neighbors have complained about noise and possible environmental impacts.

This Georgia mansion comes with a go-kart racetrack.

So far, the son has used the go-kart track for a maximum of 15 minutes. That’s how long the Karen neighbors took to shut it down. Since then, things have escalated to the point attorneys are involved and now the case is before a judge.

One neighbor claimed in court that the track was very noisy, with the sounds of screeching tires assaulting his ears, reports WJZ. However, the father’s attorney pointed out the go-kart being used by the kid is all-electric, so it doesn’t make nearly as much noise as a traditional gas-powered one.

On the environmental front, the concern is the paved track has damaged the wetlands where it was built. The concern is it will impact the neighbors’ properties, which in our experience usually means they’re concerned about their property value.

After all, some snobby people think a little racecar track is going to drop the value of their house considerably. Why gearheads are viewed as trashy by Karens is something we just don’t understand.

The father is offering to modify to track to meet any standards set by the state, including for environmental considerations. It’s almost like he’s being flexible while neighbors just want their way.

Apparently, the son is really into racing and wants to go pro one day. His dad is trying to support those dreams, but as often happens with real full-size tracks, people complain and want to shut it down.
