Crowe UK has promoted Mark Holborow to the role of Insolvency and Restructuring Partner, with effect from 1 July 2025.

Holborow, who joined the firm in 2022 as a director, brings nearly two decades of experience in the insolvency and restructuring field, primarily working with Big Four and mid-tier firms.

Crowe CEO Nigel Bostock said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark to the Crowe partnership. His promotion will further strengthen our insolvency and restructuring capabilities to deliver tailored solutions to businesses under financial pressure.”

“This is a critical time for many businesses, as ongoing economic uncertainty is compounded by recent increases in National Insurance contributions, salaries, and taxes. Mark’s extensive experience and strong expertise means he is well-equipped to help clients to navigate turbulent and uncertain times.”

Holborow's expertise lies in assisting clients experiencing financial distress, helping them to understand their options and obligations in restructuring their businesses to prevent formal insolvency.

His work is stated to often involve collaboration with accountants, lawyers, and institutional investors to devise strategies for business rescue and creditor protection when other outcomes are not feasible.

Throughout his career, Holborow has served a diverse range of clients, including startups, mature companies, owner-managed businesses, SMEs, large national companies, and non-profit organisations.

He has experience in working on behalf of corporates, lenders, and investors in various industries and sectors.

As a licensed insolvency practitioner, Holborow is claimed to have handled numerous cases involving Administrations, Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations, Company Voluntary Arrangements, and Members’ Voluntary Liquidations.

Holborow said: “I’m excited to start the next stage of my career with Crowe, working closely with Steven Edwards to continue to grow our Insolvency and Restructuring service offering. The rate of formal insolvency appointments has remained persistently high over the last two years, and 2025 shows little sign of improvement. Crowe’s expertise, client base and national footprint mean we are ideally positioned to support businesses across the UK which are struggling with financial distress and stakeholder pressure.

“On a personal level, Crowe’s culture of openness, support and investment in our people perfectly aligns with my own ethos.”

In May 2025, Crowe also promoted Hayley Lavery to Corporate Audit Partner, further strengthening its Corporate Audit team.
