A Chevrolet dealer in California is allegedly selling its C8 Corvette ZR1 for half a million dollars, shocking many. We’ve covered before how demand for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 is far outstripping supply, but this dealer seems to really be pushing things a little too far. Still, we wonder if someone will eventually plop down the cash to own the American supercar.
Dodge is cooking up some secret muscle cars.
A user in the Facebook group Corvette C8 Z06, ZR1 & E-Ray named Zolta Brutler posted a screen capture of an email he allegedly received from FH Dailey Chevrolet about the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 3LZ listed on the dealer’s website, with “Call For Price & Availability” where the price would be listed.
The reply to his inquiry reads: “Hello Zoltan, Thank you for your inquiry on the 2025 Chevrolet Covette from FH Dailey Chevrolet of San Leandro. Price $500k. By Appointment only for the best service. When is your best time to come and test drive it? Do you want me to schedule one for you?”
People are debating the authenticity of the email, especially the signature which includes the term “El Bayunco” which in El Salvador means someone who is silly or foolish. They apparently feel the email is thus a joke.
But others feel it’s real and that the dealership is looking to capitalize on someone desperate enough for a ZR1 they’ll pay around $300,000 beyond MSRP. Considering it’s estimated that just over 100 will be made for the 2025 model year, that’s possible.
You might be wondering why someone wouldn’t just buy a Ferrari or some other European exotic for $500,000. That’s a legitimate question because part of the appeal of the C8 Corvette ZR1 is supposed to be bang for the buck.
Paying half a million for one seems to render that selling point moot. But we guess some people are just so loyal to Corvettes and/or GM perhaps they’ll shell out big for a ZR1 instead of going with an alternative.
