In a post shared on Reddit, she writes that she has been with her husband for 15 years, and has taken his siblings to her family's vacation home, which is owned by her grandparents, just twice.

"Now the thing about my in-laws is they are the kind of people to hire someone to change a light bulb. (Not joking. They do it annually)," she writes. "And this vacation home is 90 minutes away from any city. Meaning you learn to maintain the property yourself as much as possible."

While the property "is pretty self-sustaining" with a "well, septic, solar, Starlink, etc," the poster notes that there "are still things you need to do - i.e. fill the gas, maintain the backup generator, pick up the fire hazards, etc."

"The first time we invited them, his sister was horrified there was no garbage truck to take the trash out of the property and we had to do it ourselves," she continues. "The second time, I had to wait on them hand and foot because they were guests. My brother-in-law made a stink of having to strip his own bed so I could do the laundry."

The last time they invited the couple to the vacation home, about "two years ago," the in-laws "talked about making it a 'family tradition,'" which her husband "shut down pretty quickly."

"Fortunately, my aunt was there last year when they wanted to go (and let's just say she is not much of a sharer and 4 bd, 3bath 2,500 sq ft is too tiny for her and her ego)," the woman explains.

However, her in-laws are now "at it again" and continue asking if they can come over.

"And what is worst is my BIL has been hyping 'the family vacation home' to his brand spankin' new girlfriend of two months and how they are going Labor Day without consulting anyone with keys," she writes.

"This is NOT your vacation home! You are still a guest!!" she adds, calling out the "audacity" of her brother-in-law "trying to impress your girlfriend with a property that isn't remotely yours."

Other Reddit users have urged the woman to exercise caution in allowing the extended family members to visit, with one writing, "From now on they will be assigned work as you don't want to lose your vacation to being a maid all weekend. Maybe they can do all of the work to pay for you losing peacefulness."
