Here's why “America's Got Talent” is a rerun tonight — and when there's a new episode

After five consecutive weeks of heart-pounding, tear-jerking, and — let's be honest — flat-out bizarre performances, America's Got Talent is taking a break.

Judges Mel B, Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara have had a taste of what season 20 has to offer. And they like a lot of what has taken place.

So much so they've given out numerous four yes votes, although an act only needs three to move forward to the next round. For instance, boy group CitiLimitz, which hails from Chattanooga, Tenn., won them all over with their lovely cover of K-Ci & JoJo's "All My Life" and received yeses from each.

A lucky few inspired judges, and even host Terry Crews, to slam their respective Golden Buzzers, sending contestants straight into the next round of competition, regardless of what their colleagues think. All five have two this go 'round, instead of the standard one.

Crews gave his to the dance group The Funkateers, while one of Cowell's picks, Lightwire, combined dance and a light show. We've also seen juggling (Mel B's Messoudi Brothers), singing (Mel B's Charity Lockhart and Mandel's Jourdan Blue), and roller-skating aerialists (Vergara's Stardust).

All in all, the talent on this batch of episodes has been impressive.

As Cowell himself said as he evaluated Lightwire, "You never, ever know when you're doing a new year whether you're gonna see something better than you've seen before, and — honest, I'm not just saying this — this was one of the most beautiful, stunning acts I've seen across all of the Got Talents."

There's more to come. When the reality series returns on Tuesday, July 8, the judges will be met with even more acts auditioning.

Here's the official description of the next episode: "A danger act sidekick goes solo after splitting with her longtime partner. A grandma debuts original music after her granddaughter surprises her with an audition. Simon's Golden Buzzer quickly becomes one of his favorites ever."

America’s Got Talent regularly airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and is available on Peacock the following day.
