Jerry Garcia may have died 30 years ago, but a whole new generation of Grateful Dead fans have sprung up thanks to Dead & Company. The band features three original Grateful Dead members—Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzman and Bob Weir—and John Mayer on vocals. For the last decade, they've been touring together performing Grateful Dead covers for Deadheads young and old.

In August, the group will play a series of three shows at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to commemorate the Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary. If you're a hardcore fan but can't make it to the west coast, all is not lost. Their final show will be shown in movie theaters for fans all across the country—but there's a big catch.

This isn't going to be like Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour showing in virtually every theater across the country for several weeks. This event is one night only, streaming live. And it's only going to be in IMAX. The event will begin at 6 p.m. California time (which is probably 7 p.m. rockstar time) and go for a full three and a half hours, with a 20-minute bathroom break, per Variety.

The $40 ticket will include a commemorative poster as well as a lanyard. Not bad for a live-streamed event!

IMAX, like the Grateful Dead, is becoming a relic of the past. While several IMAX-branded theaters have popped up over the last few years, only a small handful are IMAX theaters in the traditional sense. These newer branded IMAX theaters—which detractors unaffectionately refer to as "LieMAX"—have smaller screens and digital projectors as opposed to traditional IMAX 70mm film.

But does it matter whether it's "true IMAX" or "LieMAX"? If you're a Grateful Dead fan, you'll probably be too blitzed to tell the difference.
