
NEW MEXICO(KRQE) — If you’re looking to get away from Albuquerque and into the wilderness for a day, look no further. There are plenty of nearby hiking trails for your ideal day trip.

Goblin Colony Trail in Jemez Mountains

About three hours roundtrip from Albuquerque, a trail to a rock formation deemed the “Goblin Colony” is nestled in the Jemez Mountains. The trail itself is 5.3 miles long and considered “challenging.”
Osha Trail in Lincoln National Forest

This 2.5 mile loop is just over five hours round-trip from Duke City. It’s a short, relatively easy hike that’s not too far from civilization. Elevation reaches 8,500.
Gooseberry Springs Trail in Mount Taylor

The trail is on Cibola National Forest lands. It goes up to 2,000 feet in 3.1 miles to the summit at 11,300 elevation. It’s considered a difficult trail for seasoned hikers.
Cave Loop Trail at Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument

A trail with an “easy” rating that is 1.2 miles long in the Tent Rocks National Monument. The trail goes through a canyon, and it’s considered fitting for families and casual hikers.
Lost Lake Loop in Carson National Forest

A moderate-to-difficult hike with 2,300 ft of climbing for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. The trail provides beautiful views of Lost Lake.
