“Love Island USA” alums reveal new romance

Love is in the air for two Love Island alums.

Connor Newsum, who starred on season 6 of the Peacock reality series, revealed Wednesday in an Instagram post captioned "an update." that he's dating Carmen Kocourek, who appeared on season 5 of the show.

Kocourek confirmed the news, first with a comment on Newsum's post (consisting of a heart emoji and an angel emoji), and then with a post of her own on Thursday. "Party of 2," she captioned the post, which she geotagged to her hometown of Milwaukee. Newsum commented on her post with a teddy bear emoji — whatever that means.

Kocourek also posted a photo on her Instagram Stories of Newsum giving her a piggyback ride.

Kocourek entered the Love Island Villa on day 2 of season 5, and after initially partnering with Victor Gonzalez, she ultimately stuck with Kenzo Nudo for the remainder of the season, and the duo ended up placing fourth overall.

Newsum didn't fare quite as well as his new partner. Upon entering the Villa on day 2 of season 6, he partnered first with JaNa Craig and later with Leah Kateb (who ultimately placed third and second, respectively, with different partners). He exited the show on day 15, making him one of the earliest dumpees of the season.

Kocourek continued dating Nudo for almost a year after they departed Love Island together. She announced their breakup in June 2024.

"Since you guys have been on this journey with me, it feels only right to let you know that me and Kenzo are no longer together," she wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time. "Ultimately, we want different things & are headed down different paths. I sincerely appreciate all your love & support during this time, but am so excited to bring you guys along on this new chapter in my life."

Newsum will soon appear on the spinoff series Love Island: Beyond the Villa, which will follow several season 6 alums as they navigate life in Los Angeles after exiting the original show. Beyond the Villa premieres on Peacock on July 13.

The original Love Island USA is in the middle of its 7th season, which is set to air its finale on July 13 after 36 episodes.
