Love Island USA’s Yulissa Escobar on ‘Real Story’ Behind Leaving the Show After N-Word Scandal

Here she goes again. Yulissa Escobar is once again talking about the N-word scandal that derailed her time on Love Island USA.
As a reminder, Yulissa appeared in one episode before quietly getting kicked out of the Villa in episode two. Since then, she’s apologized, walked back the apology, and claimed to have been a victim of cancel culture. Now, she’s back on TikTok, spilling the behind-the-scenes tea about the moment she got kicked out of the villa. We watched the whole thing, so you don’t have to.
Yulissa Escobar used racial slurs before joining Love Island USA
Yulissa’s exit from Love Island USA Season 7 went unexplained on-screen. However, fans knew exactly what happened. The videos of her saying the N-word spread around the internet, and the producers needed her gone. On TikTok, Yulissa revealed how that played out in real life.

According to Yulissa, the day started normally. Ace Greene made her breakfast. Everything seemed fine, and they were waiting for the first bombshells to arrive. Then, a producer called Yulissa to the side and told her to take off her mic. That’s when she knew something was wrong.
“I kinda figured something serious was happening,” she recalled. “I honestly got scared, I thought something was happening with a family member or something.”
She continued, “They didn’t really tell me anything, they just said, you know, a video resurfaced [on the] internet and it’s not looking too good.”

Since the producers didn’t specify that the video in question was of her saying the N-word, her mind was spiraling, trying to recall what she did wrong. It all clicked once she got her phone back from production.
She recalled, “I was like, f*ck, no. I can’t believe people think I’m racist. I mean, I get it, I said a word that I should have not said, but man, I wish I would’ve never said that.”
Yulissa concluded the story by saying, “It is what it is. I can’t go back in time. I am sorry that I said that word.”
Love Island USA is streaming on Peacock.
