Fans are howling with outrage after learning that Marge Simpson, wife of Homer and beloved icon of The Simpsons, has been killed off in the cartoon’s season 36 finale!

One fan squawked: “What a stupid decision!”

In the episode titled “Estranger Things,” Marge is looking down from heaven, fearful that her kids, Bart, who’s running an unlicensed retirement home, and Lisa, now NBA commissioner, have become estranged while dad Homer has been whisked by Senior Protective Services to a home in Florida.

Lisa finds an old video of Marge telling her kids to always stick together, and they unite to rescue their blowhard dad. “I’m so glad my kids are close again,” sighs Marge, who then shares a smooch with heavenly husband Ringo Starr. She tells him, “I’m just so glad that we’re allowed to marry different people in heaven.”
