Prince William’s passion for soccer has been front and center this year as he has met fellow Aston Villa fans in the pub and even tried his hand at sports commentating. And today, he has met with the England women’s team as they prepare to head off to Switzerland to defend their title in the 2025 UEFA Euros.
William visited England’s national football center St. George’s Park to hear from Sarina Wiegman, England Head Coach, and senior FA personnel on how the team is getting ready for the tournament.

The Prince is Patron of the Football Association and was at Wembley Stadium for the Euros finals in 2022 when the Lionesses beat Germany 2-1 to claim the title. A year later, in 2023, William received some criticism for not traveling to Australia to attend any of their World Cup matches. He did, however, appear in a video with Princess Charlotte to cheer on the team ahead of their final match against Spain. It has been said that the Prince will travel to Switzerland to watch the Lionesses in this tournament, however nothing has yet been confirmed by Kensington Palace.

Made for This Game is a campaign launched earlier this year to drive growth and participation across the women’s game. “The Lionesses have inspired a generation of women and girls to play football, with a 56% increase in participation since 2020,” Kensington Palace said in a statement today.

William also took part in a shirt printing activity and presented shirts to each of the 23 players selected for the England squad. The 2025 UEFA Women’s Euros starts on July 2 and lasts until July 27.
