Sean "Diddy" Combs will remain in jail until he is sentenced after being convicted of transporting people for prostitution on Wednesday, July 2.

Following the verdict, the judge denied him bail and ordered Combs to remain in jail until sentencing, which the judge suggested might be in October.

Though Combs faces a sentence as high as 20 years in prison, the music mogul was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking, the most serious charges against him.

Combs had faced a possible life sentence if convicted of the racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Under the transportation charges, set by the federal Mann Act, each of the two convictions carries a maximum term of 10 years in prison, but the judge could order the sentences to be served concurrently - making his sentence even shorter.

The defense immediately argued for Combs's release, saying that the jury "resoundingly rejected the government's depiction of Mr. Combs." The judge declined to release him, noting that at trial, "the defense conceded" his history of domestic violence in his personal relationships, including his decade-long relationship with R&B singer Cassie Ventura.

Despite returning to jail for the time being, Combs had a visibly enthusiastic reaction to the outcome of his trial. After the verdict was read, Combs reportedly put his hands together and mouthed "thank you, thank you" to the jurors. He also dropped to his knees, seemingly in prayer, and started a round of applause in court.

Following the jury's decision, fans of Combs gathered outside the courthouse to celebrate the verdict. Others, however, expressed support for Ventura, the star witness of the trial, including her attorney and pop star Kesha.
