The Best Room At... South Bank

Turks and Caicos, a collection of 40 islands and cays tucked southeast of the Bahamas, has always drawn travelers to its brilliant blue waters, silky white sand, spectacular coral reefs, and endless sunshine.

When South Bank opened last November along Providenciales' southern coast, it brought luxury hospitality to a corner of the island that had previously stayed wonderfully wild. While Grace Bay Club—with its famous 12-mile-long beach—has become the island's tourism hub, this area remained largely untouched. Until now.

The 31-acre resort, developed by Windward and managed by Grace Bay Resorts, stretches across 2,200 feet of unspoiled Caicos Bank shoreline. At its heart sits a five-acre swimming lagoon surrounded by powdery shores and dotted with two small islands.

Rather than traditional hotel rooms, South Bank offers 92 villas spread across four neighborhoods, each positioned to capture both ocean views and direct waterfront access while delivering the space and privacy of your own vacation home—complete with full resort services.

These thoughtfully designed villas work beautifully for families, friend groups, and couples who want a bit of extra space during their escape. Options range from cozy one-bedroom hideaways to expansive multi-bedroom houses with private pools, full kitchens, and generous living spaces that flow seamlessly to outdoor terraces.

Step directly from your villa onto the beach, snorkel the house reef, or savor chef-prepared meals on your private outdoor dining terrace. The Mediterranean-inspired Lua restaurant anchors the waterfront, while the lagoon-side Nuttin Bar serves cocktails where you can literally sink your toes into the soft coral sand.

We caught up with general manager Atilla Cimsit to learn about the resort's standout accommodations and how South Bank is reshaping luxury travel in Turks and Caicos.

What do you consider to be the best accommodation at the property and why?

All accommodations at South Bank are incredible, and with four distinctive neighborhoods, guests can tailor their stay down to the type and location of villa they're looking for. Among the wide range of offerings, the five-bedroom Ocean Banks Estate is a standout property. At 5,581 square feet, it is perched right along the Iron Shore, with every room, including all five bedrooms, opening up to unparalleled ocean views. It's an ideal option for families or groups of up to 10 who want privacy, space, and a front-row seat to the water. Amenities of this villa alone include a private infinity-edge pool in addition to the main pool and interior reflecting pool; a beautiful kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining areas; multiple sun decks; and direct access to the sea.

How much does it cost per night?

This Ocean Estate ranges from $3,998 to $10,250 per night, depending on the time of year.

How would you describe the guests and vibe at the hotel?

Our guests seek a luxurious waterfront living experience, whether for wellness and rejuvenation, family getaways, or special celebrations. We see couples, families, and groups at South Bank who appreciate our high-end service and the privacy of spacious villas. South Bank exudes coastal charm with laid-back energy while remaining sophisticated and fun, emphasizing the surrounding waters and natural beauty of Turks and Caicos. For adventurous guests, the South Bank Marina's boat concierges arrange exciting water excursions and water sports. After snorkeling or paddleboarding in the lagoon, guests can walk or swim to the Island Bar for tropical drinks. For relaxation and wellness, South Bank offers a world-class spa, fitness center, tennis and pickleball lessons, and yoga on the lagoon islands. Guests enjoy the ocean connection, expansive accommodations, and balance of calm and adventure—there's truly something for everyone.

What feeling about Turks and Caicos do you hope to communicate to guests?

We want guests to feel instantly at ease the moment they arrive at South Bank. Much of our design is rooted in the principles of blue mind theory, which explores the calming, restorative effects of being near water. Whether you’re floating in our man-made lagoon (the first of its kind in TCI), enjoying an in-villa massage under the stars, or simply watching the sunset from your terrace, our goal is to create a breathtaking and tranquil environment.

What’s a local attraction that you always recommend?

For those looking for an off-property dining experience, Omar’s Beach Hut is usually the first place I recommend. Just a quick drive from South Bank, Omar’s has that easygoing, beachfront feel that people come to Turks and Caicos for.
