‘The Young and the Restless’ leads the 2025 Daytime Emmy nominations (so far) with top bids for series, actress, and actor

Nominations for the Daytime Emmys in eight categories were announced on Wednesday evening: Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actress, Best Drama Actor, Best Culinary Instructional Series, Best Talk Series, Best Travel and Adventure Program, Best Instructional and How-To Program, and Best Lifestyle Program.
The remaining nominations for the 52nd annual ceremony will be announced Thursday at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET. Typically, the noms are unveiled in April or May by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), but this year the timeline was swapped with the News & Documentary Emmy Awards. The Daytime Emmys ceremony will take place Oct. 17 in Pasadena, Calif.

Why buzzy new soap 'Beyond the Gates' isn't eligible at the 2025 Daytime Emmys, how the number of contenders is determined, and more burning questions answered
AdvertisementAdvertisement#«R25e4kr8lb2m7nfddbH1» iframe AdvertisementAdvertisement#«R45e4kr8lb2m7nfddbH1» iframeThe Best Drama Series category is back to just three nominees — Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless — after last year's record-tying six contenders vied for the top prize. As Gold Derby previously reported, buzzy new soap opera Beyond the Gates was not eligible this year but will contend at the 2026 kudos.
The six-person lineup for Best Drama Actress includes four from The Young and the Restless — Sharon Case, Eileen Davidson, Melissa Claire Egan, and Michelle Stafford — plus Nancy Lee Grahn and Laura Wright from General Hospital.
The five Best Drama Actor nominees hail from all three nominated soaps: Days of Our Lives' Eric Martsolf, Greg Rikaart, and Paul Telfer; The Young and the Restless' Peter Bergman; and General Hospital's Dominic Zamprogna.

Several new categories were introduced this year: Best Emerging Talent (see the specific criteria), Best Regional Content in a Daytime Genre, Best Culinary Instructional Series, Best Culinary Cultural Series, Best Travel and Adventure Program, and Best Nature and Science Program. Note that the two culinary categories replace the former Best Culinary Series contest, and the two categories for travel/adventure and nature/science replace the former Best Travel, Nature, and Adventure race.
