Rare 1969 Yenko Camaro 427 discovered in a trailer.
That is a long-time debate in the car world. Some believe you can’t improve upon the expertise of designers and engineers who work for automakers. They prefer buying the most impressive performance ride out of the box and keeping it bone stock.
The other side of the coin are those who like taking a vehicle that isn’t impressive performance-wise, or one that’s mildly potent, then modifying it seven ways to Sunday so it becomes a monster on wheels.
This debate not only rages in the drag racing world, it cuts across many of the car hobby genres like off-roading, autocross, and more.

Everyone has their reasons for sitting in either camp on this debate. But one thing is for sure: you can’t argue with results. This is why watching hotrods and other heavily modified rides go up against muscle cars, a C8 Corvette, Toyota Supra, and other factory performance wonders is truly interesting.

Then people think it was the machine that made all the difference, not realizing skill is a huge factor. As you watch these races, you can draw your own conclusions about driver errors and how they affect the outcomes.
