The Bronco set the scene

The original Ford Bronco was originally designed as a compact off-roader to compete with the Jeep CJ-5 and International Scout. The first generation, introduced in 1966, received its own chassis and came standard with four-wheel drive, a shift-on-the-fly Dana 20 transfer case, and locking hubs. The first engine on offer was the 170 cu in (2.8 L) straight-six from the Ford Falcon, with a 289 cu in (4.7 L) V8 introduced as an option in March 1966. In 1969, the 302 cu in (4.9 L) V8 replaced the 289 until the model was replaced in 1977.

A two-door wagon, a half-cab pickup, and an open-body roadster were offered, although the open-body was discontinued in 1968 and the half-cab was discontinued in 1972 due to low sales and the new Ford Courier pickup. The second-generation Ford Bronco took over in 1978 as a larger SUV meant to take on the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and Dodge Ramcharger, but the appeal of the first-generation carries on to this day. The open-body roadster variant is often seen as the perfect candidate for summer getaways and adventures, and this mildly modified, restored example of a 1975 Ford Bronco on Exotic Car Trader might be the one for you.

The perfect Bronco for summer cruising

Finished in two-tone green and white over a new brown leather interior, this adventure-ready Bronco has seen some modifications from its original factory specification. According to the listing, this one features a Krawlers Edge Family Roll Cage, a color-matched James Duff Spare Tire Rack, custom wheels with dog dish hubcaps from a 1966 Ford Galaxie, a 3.5” lift, and Amp Power Steps. The interior sports the aforementioned new seats as well as custom floor mats, tinted windows, an aftermarket stereo, and LED lighting, which might be a bit much for some purists.

Under the hood is a rebuilt 302 cu in (4.9 L) V8 with new wiring as well as new brake lines and fuel lines. The rear pinion has reportedly been rebuilt, a Dana 20 transfer case and a new 23-gallon gas tank were installed, and the shocks and brakes were upgraded to Bilstein shocks and four-wheel disc brakes. The three-speed C4 automatic transmission was also rebuilt and mated to a new torque converter.

Final thoughts

Personally, originality always prevails when deciding whether or not I like a classic car, and this Ford 1Bronco is just about perfect. Full Velocity Restorations did a terrific job in keeping the appeal of this Bronco intact, with an interior that doesn't look out of place at all (although I would still prefer a bench seat). The steering wheel and LED lighting do detract some points, but that's not the end of the world.

What might be the end of the world for some is the price tag. This 1975 Ford Bronco is currently on sale for $139,999, which is a lot for a 50-year-old off-roader. You do have to consider that this one has an entirely reworked powertrain, transmission, and everything, not to mention the new interior. If your aim is to hop in a classic off-roader and likely not have to worry about anything major going wrong for a long while, this Bronco might be the one for you.
