'The Bear' Season 5 Will Premiere Next Year

Season 4 of The Bear will officially premiere tonight at 8 P.M. ET/5 P.M. PT. The FX and Hulu comedy-drama starring Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri will drop all 10 episodes at once, as is customary for the hit series. While fans have been waiting a year for the new season, they’ll inevitably be wondering about where the show will go next once they’ve finished bingeing. Here’s what we know about the future of The Bear so far.

Will there be a season 5 of The Bear?

Yes, chef. FX announced on July 1 that the hit series will return for a fifth season, set for 2026.

“The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide and their response to this season—as seen through incredibly high viewership—has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons,” FX Chairman John Landgraf said in a statement. “Year-in and year-out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television, and we are excited that they will continue to tell this magnificent story.”

When previously asked if season 4 would be the show’s last, Landgraf wasn’t sure. “These decisions are really creative decisions,” he told Variety in 2024. “It was Sterlin Harjo who made a decision that Rez Dogs was a three-season series. And so it’s really Chris [Storer’s] decision on The Bear. It’s about, how much more story does he have to tell? I mean, obviously, I’m hoping he has more than one more season of story to tell. But not to the extent that if there was one great season or three mediocre ones, I’d rather have one great one. You just have to follow the creative.”

When will season 5 be released?

Right now, all we know from FX is that the next season will premiere in 2026. Further details on the release date or production schedule are still under wraps.

What would season 5 of The Bear be about?

Season 4 ends with Carmy announcing he is making his exit plans for the restaurant, waiting only for things to stabilize, secretly removing his name from the restaurant’s partnership agreement. He tells Sydney that cooking doesn’t feel like his passion anymore, making her the de facto leader. She proposes that Richie and Carmy’s sister, Natalie, join the team as partners.

Carmy also reveals he attended his late brother’s funeral, but couldn’t go inside, adding to the story of their shared grief. Natalie, Richie, and Carmy share a cathartic moment of understanding. Season 5 would likely be about Carmy’s exit and a changing of the guard, if The Bear continues.

Who would be cast in season 5 of The Bear?

It would be expected that series regulars would return, including: Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Matty Matheson, and many others.
