A 111-year-old Ford Model T, boasting an impressive résumé in film and television, is going under the hammer next month — and at a surprisingly attainable price. Estimated to sell for between £15,000 and £20,000, the historic car is part of Historics’ upcoming auction in Iver on July 19.

Built in 1914, just months before the outbreak of World War I, this Model T has spent the last few decades both preserved and in the spotlight. After being imported to the UK in 1983 and acquired from a Ford showroom 14 years ago, the car has been featured in major period productions such as Downton Abbey, Peaky Blinders, and Mr Selfridge. It has also appeared in acclaimed films including Lady Chatterley’s Lover and 1917.

Powered by a 2.9-liter side-valve four-cylinder engine, the vehicle is capable of reaching 45 mph — modest by modern standards, but impressive for a car that predates most world highways.

Often regarded as the car that put the world on wheels, the Model T was the first mass-produced automobile in history. Between 1908 and 1927, more than 15 million units were sold, making it one of the most successful vehicles of all time. By the early 1920s, over half of all cars on the road globally were Fords, thanks in large part to revolutionary assembly line production that dropped prices as low as $260.
“The Ford Model T is such an important landmark in the history of personal mobility,” said Historics specialist John Tomlin. “We’re thrilled to offer this wonderfully collectible example, especially with its film and TV credentials.”

Collectors and vintage car enthusiasts will be able to bid on the Model T during Historics’ July 19 auction, where it will be sold without reserve. For those looking for a piece of cinematic and motoring history, this veteran car offers both — and at a price far below the typical cost of movie memorabilia.
