We immediately perked up when we saw someone is selling their Local Motors Rally Fighter X1 online. These are rare off-roaders which we actually had the privilege of driving once (one of the cars used in Fast & Furious 8: The Fate of the Furious, no less) and can say they’re pretty wild. However, that rarity means the cost of admission to this ride might be a little too steep for some.

Nobody knows for sure how many Rally Fighters the defunct Local Motors built at its factory in Arizona, but most estimates are somewhere around 100 units. The seller of this one says it’s #SN61.
The Rally Fighter was built to be kind of a tribute to rally cars, only they’re lifted more. Each one has bespoke design elements, so no two are exactly alike, but they all have a tubular frame, front skid plate, massive shocks for going off jumps, and an LS3 V8.

On this one, the LS3 is supercharged so it produces a claimed 720-bhp. The one we drove wasn’t exactly scorching fast, thanks no doubt to the tires and drivetrain.
But we should mention these things don’t have four-wheel or even all-wheel drive. We understand why, but honestly it would’ve made them so much cooler.
They’re definitely unique and you will get looks driving one around, because it looks like an odd car, almost like a mix of a Honda Civic, Dodge Challenger, and Mitsubishi Eclipse (the third gen that was favored by strippers) and yet it rides on massive tires.
The ad doesn’t show it, but the interior is caged and pretty Spartan, but we would expect nothing less of these things.
For us, the biggest sticking point is the price. This one is listed for sale at a whopping $100,000. That’s pretty steep, at least to us, but maybe you think that’s chump change?
