A bold plan to transform a defunct airport in Atlantic City, New Jersey into an F1 racetrack with housing and more is moving forward. Called Renaissance at Bader Field, the proposed development includes a 2.44-mile track built to Formula One standards, car condos, luxury housing, retail, and more.
Cadillac’s F1 team might hire Christian Horner.
The estimated cost of the project is $3.3 billion, and it’s projected to be finished sometime after 2030. The plan was originally unveiled in February 2022 but has been held up by government red tape and financing snafus for the last three years.

But on July 16, the Atlantic City Council voted unanimously to approve the racetrack plan as proposed by local developer DEEM Enterprises. It’s officially moving forward, finally.
Some have cynically suggested the track will be shut down by people who buy condos in the development.
We’d love to say those comments don’t have any basis in reality, but the fact is a number of tracks have been shuttered after people have moved nearby, then complained about the noise and crowds, even though they chose to live by a racetrack.
Hopefully, the people who move into the condos at the track are real gearheads who want to be close to the action during races. Imagine stepping out onto your balcony to watch a Formula One Grand Prix!

According to NJ.com, the track will be divided into two circuits. One will be a half-mile long and the other 1.75-miles long.
While Mayor Marty Small Sr. has been excited about this project from the get-go, we wonder if Formula One will run a GP at the facility. We assume it will cater to other races, but we hope that’s enough to make the development profitable, otherwise we could have yet another racetrack closing down and we don’t want to see that.
