A sixth gen Camaro provides a potent example of why running from the police is a dumb idea by leading a Georgia trooper on a short chase. It wasn’t a longer pursuit because the suspect driver lost control, crashing into other cars on the highway, causing a huge chain reaction wreck, all over not wanting a speeding ticket.
Watch a Georgia trooper PIT a suspect in the worst spot possible.
We’ve all been there, just driving along when you pass a cop and realize you were speeding by a little bit, if not a lot. Your heart skips a beat as you wait to see if those telltale flashing lights turn on or the cruiser starts to follow you.
If either one happens, normal people mumble a curse, pull to the side of the road, then take whatever’s coming. Even though this Camaro driver cuts over to the right lane rather aggressively, he doesn’t just pull over.
Instead, he punches it, taking off while immediately shaving it close with some innocent bystanders. Our suspect makes it clear he will put others at risk to avoid getting a traffic citation, which seems a little extreme.
The trooper notes to dispatch that instead of a regular tag, the Chevy muscle car has a temporary that’s hand written, looking like it was provided by a dealership. If that’s true, it means the driver probably isn’t all that familiar with the Camaro and how it handles, especially at high speeds and in aggressive maneuvering.
At least the crash brings to close the chase as the suspect driver pulls over to the middle of the highway for reasons we can’t explain. Not shockingly, two young kids get out of the Camaro, smoke billowing out of the open doors. Were they hot boxing in there?
