EA Game Delisted Without Warning

PhilipGames2025-07-222700

EA Sports FC 24, a soccer game published by EA back in 2023, has been delisted. EA keeps a running list of games it plans on removing and shutting down, but EA Sports FC 24 wasn't on the list, for whatever reason. This seems like a strange oversight, especially when one considers the popularity of EA's soccer franchise.

While it's now known as EA Sports FC, EA's soccer game franchise used to carry the FIFA license. EA's FIFA games have been wildly popular for decades, and so it came as a shock when the decision was made not to renew. EA has still found success even without the FIFA branding, but now the first game in the EA Sports FC series has been delisted.

In the span of only two years, EA has shut down the servers for a long list of games, and that list is likely to grow in the future.

EA Sports FC 24 has been removed from digital storefronts, and it's unclear exactly why. Typically, sports games are delisted because of expiring licenses, and while that's likely the case for EA Sports FC 24 as well, it's strange that EA did not make the announcement in advance like it normally would. In any case, EA Sports FC 24 is currently unavailable to purchase on the PlayStation Store, Xbox marketplace, or Steam. Anyone interested in playing the game will need to pick up a digital copy or download it through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or EA Play. EA Sports FC 24's online modes remain functional at the time of this writing, but they will likely be axed at some point within the next year or so.

In fact, EA Sports FC 24's immediate predecessor, FIFA 23, is shutting down on December 12. FIFA 23's servers shutting down will mean that no more FIFA-branded soccer games are available to play online. EA Sports FC 24's servers will likely remain operational for some months after FIFA 23's shut down, though it's unclear exactly how long it will remain online. The fact that it has been delisted already is certainly not a good sign, and so soccer fans may want to migrate to EA Sports FC 25 if they haven't already.

Of course, EA Sports FC 25 is about to become outdated sooner rather than later. Barring a dramatic change in plans, a new EA Sports FC game is going to drop on September 26. Once that happens, the clock will start ticking on EA Sports FC 25, counting down to the day that the game follows in EA Sports FC 24's footsteps in being delisted and eventually shut down.
