Marvel Rivals Is Addressing a Major Season 3 Problem

HarryGames2025-07-176570

Summary

Many players have complained that Wolverine has felt unbalanced since the launch of Season 3 of Marvel Rivals. Changes include reducing Wolverine's lifesteal and durability, as well as decreasing the damage potential of his Berserk Claw Strike. An upcoming Summer Special event in Marvel Rivals will provide players with new hero skins and cosmetics through August 15.

Marvel Rivals has revealed that it will be launching some hero balance adjustments with the title's next update on July 17, which includes some significant changes for Wolverine players. NetEase Games recently launched Season 3 of Marvel Rivals, adding the Duelist Phoenix to the hero shooter's ever-expanding roster.

While many people have been enjoying their time with Jean Grey as the Duelist Phoenix, some players have complained that her team-up with Wolverine in Marvel Rivals is too strong. Currently, the Primal Flame team-up increases the amount of damage Wolverine can dish out with his Feral Leap ability, as it covers the Duelist in flames that damage anyone near him. In addition, he has become even more durable, as the team-up also gives him lifesteal. Many Vanguard players have taken to social media to ask the developers to address the issue, as they feel Wolverine is now unbalanced.

In a recent post on Twitter, NetEase Games revealed that it will be making some hero balance adjustments as part of an update scheduled to release on July 17. The adjustments appear to be aimed at rebalancing Wolverine in Marvel Rivals, as the developers feel he's causing Vanguard players too much grief. In an effort to balance the hero, the developers are reducing the amount of lifesteal he receives from his team-up with Phoenix. The cooldown on his regenerative ability has also been increased, making him a little less durable in a fight. The maximum damage potential from his Berserk Claw Strike is also reduced.

NetEase Games has also given players a look at patch notes for Marvel Rivals' July 17 update, revealing that players will soon be able to participate in an upcoming Summer Special event. As part of the event, players will gain access to a new pass filled with cosmetics for The Thing, Thor, and Luna Snow. Thor's skin, Worthy Waves, will be available for free as part of the pass. The event is scheduled to run through August 15, but everyone who purchases the premium version of the pass will be able to complete it at their own pace.

Loki and Psylocke will also be receiving summer skins in Marvel Rivals, though the cosmetics will only be available in the game's from July 17 through August 15. Both skins will be dropped with optional recolors for players to purchase with Unstable Molecules, though NetEase Games hasn't revealed just how much either cosmetic will cost. With a whole new season to enjoy and even more content just around the corner, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals Version 20250717 Balance Post

In the recently launched Season 3, we observed that Wolverine's new Team-Up Ability with Phoenix has been bringing a bit too much heat to Vanguards. This duo's combined power has led to battles for Vanguards feeling less like a hero's journey and more like a mutiny, potentially sidelining key Vanguard heroes. To restore balance and keep the fight epic, we're nerfing Wolverine's Team-Up Ability and dialing down his threat level against the Vanguards in this update.

We'll keep a close eye on the hero ecosystem and your battles, so stay tuned for more balance adjustments in future updates.

ADJUSTMENTS

DUELIST

Wolverine

Time to temper Logan's rage and slightly reduce his survivability.

Increase Berserk Claw Strike Base Damage from 6 to 8. Reduce Percentage Damage per attack at maximum Rage from 4.5% to 3.5%. Increase Regenerative Healing Factor cooldown from 90s to 105s. Increase cooldown reduction from 10s to 12s when participating in KOs.

TEAM-UP ABILITIES

Primal Flame (Phoenix - Wolverine)

Our fiery mutant duo's bond has been a little too hot to handle. So we're cooling down Wolverine's healing when teaming up with Phoenix.

Reduce Lifesteal gained during Phoenix Warrior from 33% to 25%.
