World of Warcraft Making Big Change in The War Within Season 3

LauraGames2025-07-177930

For the first time in more than two years, World of Warcraft will not be resetting players' Valorstones to zero at the start of The War Within Season 3. This will allow users to stock up on the currency ahead of the next major World of Warcraft update to give their item levels a nice boost by immediately upgrading their gear.

Originally introduced as Flightstones in Dragonflight, Valorstones are one of two types of currency used to upgrade gear in World of Warcraft: The War Within, alongside Crests. Earned from most content in the game, Valorstones are not exactly hard to get. That said, this currency has historically been reset to zero at the end of every season so that all fans must start back at square one.

However, World of Warcraft is breaking that tradition in The War Within Season 3 for the first time in over two years. According to a recent build of the Public Test Realm, Valorstones – and ostensibly their equivalents in future expansions – will no longer be reset at the start of seasons, starting with Season 3. While gamers will still need to obtain Ethereal Crests in Patch 11.2 in order to upgrade their gear, they can save up to 2000 Valorstones ahead of time to make the process much faster.

Valorstones Don’t Reset in WoW: The War Within Season 3

Though it seems like a small change, this is actually a big deal for World of Warcraft. Early in a season, Valorstones are a hot commodity, since low-level Crests are easy to come by, while the opposite is true in later seasons – a fact that is one of the biggest complaints about this currency in World of Warcraft. This means many players will have an abundance of Valorstones by the end of Season 2 that would have gone down the drain with the seasonal rollover. Now, fans will not only get to keep their hard-earned currency between seasons, but they won’t run out of Valorstones nearly as fast at the start of a new season because of it.

The WoW: The War Within Season 2 Turbo Boost made Valorstones Warband transferable until the start of Season 3. Players should make sure to move their Valorstones over to the characters they hope to gear up first in Patch 11.2 while they can, as this functionality is expected to go away once the new season drops.

Also of note, this same Public Test Realm build implemented changes to the banking system in World of Warcraft as well. The Reagent Bank and Void Storage have been removed in favor of a more robust system that works more like the Warband Bank, featuring up to six customizable, unlockable tabs.
