Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that Path of Exile 2’s next major update, Version 0.3.0, will introduce a brand-new League and is scheduled to release on August 29. Path of Exile 2 launched in Early Access in December of last year as a strong performer, with an incredibly high player count, stellar early impressions, and an engaging gameplay loop. Recent reviews, however, have been mixed, with many fans citing the game’s lackluster endgame content and difficulty issues as key contributors.
Since its release, Path of Exile 2 has only had one new League, Version 0.2.0 Dawn of the Hunt, released on April 4, 2025, which saw the arrival of a new class, the Huntress. On top of adding more content, new mechanics, and more Uniques to farm in Dawn of the Hunt, GGG made significant changes to the endgame of PoE 2 in an attempt to address fan concerns. The Atlas of Worlds was reworked with new maps and Tower distribution, Unique strongboxes were added, and the Recombination system and Fracturing Orbs were introduced to give players more crafting options. Despite the concerted effort from the developers, however, Path of Exile 2 saw a marked downturn in player count, with a significant number choosing to return to Path of Exile 1 instead.

Path of Exile 2 Responds to Dawn of the Hunt Criticism
Grinding Gear Games releases an official statement following the backlash regarding Path of Exile 2's latest update, Dawn of the Hunt.
PostsIn a recent forum thread on the official Path of Exile 2 website, Grinding Gear Games announced the next League, Version 0.3.0, will release on August 29. In the post, GGG also reaffirmed that PoE 2 will follow the same quarterly content schedule as Path of Exile 1 going forward, with new Leagues being released every 4 months. Unlike Dawn of the Hunt, Version 0.3.0 will have exclusive content only available for that League, and players will not be able to access it using old characters from the Standard League of PoE 2.
Path of Exile 2 Version 0.3.0 Release Date
Close August 29Additionally, the Version 0.3.0 Content Update will have new combat mechanics, new rewards, new crafting options, and new bosses to discover. Like previous Leagues, it will be a fresh economy, with a separate trade market hosted on the official PoE 2 site that only allows items found within that version to be eligible. More details regarding Version 0.3.0 will be revealed one week prior to launch.
Path of Exile 2’s player count saw a drastic fall following the Dawn of the Hunt update, more than the normal ebb and flow that PoE 2’s League schedule usually warrants. Grinding Gear Games has always been adamant about PoE 2 being a more methodical, slower-paced game compared to PoE 1, but as the data shows, fans have found the implementation of this concept frustrating, at least in the case of Dawn of the Hunt, which introduced a difficulty spike in the campaign that led many to quit entirely. Whether GGG continues in this direction or pivots to make PoE 2 more like the original, as many fans urge, is still uncertain.
