Oblivion Remastered Item Duplication Glitch Still Works After the Latest Update

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered players are still able to perform an item duplication glitch even after Update 1.2, which brought wide-sweeping fixes and improvements to Bethesda's open-world RPG. A remaster of the 2006 original, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered finally had its surprise release in late April after months of rumors and speculation. This newer version of the beloved RPG was quickly celebrated by veteran fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.
Like most other Bethesda RPG releases, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was not without its share of bugs and performance issues. Thankfully, Bethesda and Virtuous have done a solid job patching it up, and just released a huge new 1.2 update with a vast array of fixes, changes, and some neat additions. Oblivion Remastered's 1.2 update comes with solutions to various crashes and issues having to do with UI, a number of quests, gameplay, and more. Along with much-needed improvements to the game's performance, update 1.2 also added a new difficulty setting named Journeyman that sits between Adept and Expert.

Oblivion Remastered's Spider-Man Meme Would Feel at Home in The Elder Scrolls 6
One funny moment in Oblivion Remastered rewards players who complete the guild questlines, but this moment has a place in The Elder Scrolls 6 as well.
PostsWhile this new Oblivion Remastered update is quite impressive, there's one particular glitch that it seems to have missed. Part of the game since its launch back in April, a handy item duplication glitch allows players to duplicate nearly any item in the game, including gold and lockpicks. This trick is done by adding one of the desired item to an empty crate, barrel, or container in search mode and adding a different item with the desired number of stacks to that same container. While doing this, one presses the "confirm" button twice quickly and the game will mistakenly confuse the items, giving players the amount of the original item equal to the amount of stacks on the second item.
How to Do Oblivion Remastered Item Duplication Glitch
Close Open an empty crate, box, barrel, or container and open the Search menu Place the item you wish to duplicate in the empty container Identify another item in your inventory with the desired amount While this second item is highlighted in your inventory, press RB+A (Xbox), R1+X (PlayStation), or drag the item into the container (PC) When asked "How many," set the desired amount Quickly press the "Continue" button twiceThis trick, while it lasts, can be an incredibly powerful one, especially for players who are having trouble on Oblivion Remastered's hardest difficulty setting, or players who are having trouble in general. Gold and lockpicks are the obvious favorites for this exploit, but it can be particularly useful for instantly duplicating various types of potions, or soul gems and Varla Stones for players who like using enchanted weapons and armor. Archers can use the trick to gain near-endless arrows, although they're already quite bountiful in Cyrodiil.
Bethesda and Virtuous seem to put out a major Oblivion Remastered update about once per month, so the next one is likely to come sometime in August. However, it's easy to see Virtuous pushing out a smaller patch sooner that mainly addresses this specific exploit if they deem it necessary. Oblivion Remastered players who don't mind a leg up should take advantage of the glitch while it lasts, as items duplicated using the trick are unlikely to be taken away if or when the glitch eventually gets patched out.
