Arrowhead Game Studios has revealed an update to the Super Citizen Edition of Helldivers 2 and its equivalent upgrade is coming on August 26, replacing the Steeled Veterans Warbond with a Warbond Token redeemable for any Premium Warbond. The token is being introduced in response to community feedback regarding an issue where Helldivers 2 players who purchased the Steeled Veterans Warbond – either through in-game purchases or with the Super Citizen Edition upgrade – could accidentally buy the Warbond a second time.
Warbonds are similar to traditional battle passes in that they're tiered reward systems that grant access to additional content, including new equipment, cosmetic items, emotes, and in-game currency. Unlike typical battle passes, Warbonds are not timed, allowing players to progress through its tiers at their own pace. Players can unlock Premium Warbonds by purchasing in-game currency – Super Credits – with real money, or by farming free Super Credits in Helldivers 2.

According to a post from Arrowhead Game Studios Social Media and Community Manager Katherin Baskin, players who purchase or already own the Super Citizen Edition or upgrade will receive the new Warbond Token after logging in to Helldivers 2 for the first time and accessing the shiphub. After players confirm the Warbond Token is in their inventory, all unpurchased Premium Warbonds for Helldivers 2 will have an option to "Claim Premium Warbond" rather than the usual "Buy Premium Warbond" option.
A New Token Will Unlock Any Helldivers 2 Premium Warbond
At the time of this writing, there are no plans to make the Warbond Token a purchasable in-game currency for Helldivers 2; the only way to receive the new currency is to buy the Super Citizen Edition Upgrade. The upcoming change is yet another example of Arrowhead Game Studios' commitment to supporting Helldivers 2 while considering player feedback. Most recently, the June 24 update for Helldivers 2 brought fixes for a number of weapon bugs, including an issue with mounted weapons reported by players that prevented them from shooting after using healing stims.

With each Warbond offering unique cosmetics and gear with specific tactical benefits, deciding which Helldivers 2 Warbonds are worth it, whether that's a Warbond Token or Super Credits, it would be wise to consider the rewards each Warbond unlocks before redeeming either currency. Regardless, what the Warbond Token offers players is additional freedom, and that's what Helldivers 2 is all about.
